In 2026, Chris Hills launched 11 Seed & Soil LLC, his own independent agribusiness, after nearly 18 years in the industry.
For Hills, entrepreneurship stems from his family's legacy: his parents owned a bar and restaurant in Fairmount, and later opened Hills 210 Cafe & Subs in Wahpeton.
βJust kind of always been in my blood, I think, and always looked up to my dad and being an entrepreneur and running his own business,β Hills said.
He partnered with Channel Seed, leveraging their premium corn and soybean genetics and agronomic resources.
11 Seed & Soil is currently a one-person operation, but Hills emphasizes the importance of access to Channel's agronomists and specialists for farmer support.
Guided by principles of respect, integrity, character, and service, Hills aims to understand each farm's unique needs rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.
βI donβt just want to push something to push something. I want to make sure that guys have what they need to be successful.β Hills said.
