Adam and Hannah Guenther work on both sides of the agriculture and food industry in Nebraska. They each credit their time at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in helping them achieve their goals.
Looking back, things rarely went according to plan for the couple. Yet, from where they stand today, it seems they always had a clear vision.
Today, their lives revolve around making plans and building connections. Hannah, a rural health educator, empowers Nebraskans to make healthier dietary choices and cancer prevention plans. Adam, who manages his family's farm, is a local agriculture leader, connecting producers with their communities.
Hannah recalls her journey: trying to finish her degree at Nebraska while caring for her newborn baby. Similarly, Adam, before taking over the family farm and serving on the Cuming County Feeders board, was a Husker student struggling to find his footing.
Both leaned on the university for support, creating plans and building communities that helped their regions flourish through food.
"The university has given me so much—some of my best friends and some of the best years of my life," Hannah says. "I feel so deeply connected to it because of how formative those years were for me. The university has seen me through so many things, and it’s such a gift."
And along the way, Adam and Hannah found another gift: each other.
