Story:
At Trump’s order, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is asking Colorado to review its state wolf policies and protection status. This comes after President Trump’s Sept. 4 order to consider delisting gray wolves and Mexican gray wolves from the Endangered Species Act. The USDA is directing states to "delist gray wolves and Mexican wolves from any state-specific lists of protected species" and "revise their standards for lethal takings."
This move is in response to requests from ranchers who want to combat predation. However, environmental groups argue that wolves play a crucial role in maintaining ecosystem balance.
The letter to Colorado urges the state to listen to ranchers while also protecting the state's wildlife and natural resources.
