Brentsville Agriculture Program Secures $5,000 for Hoop House

Prince William — Brentsville District High School's agriculture program is expanding with the installation of a 30-by-30-foot hoop house, thanks to a $5,000 grant from Sprouts Farmers Market.

"I am so excited to get it up and have a different type of greenhouse for all of the students to see," said agriculture teacher Amy Beard. "All of our students can use it and learn things that are useful for them to feed themselves and their families. This is such a blessing to have, thank you Sprouts Farmers Market."

The hoop house, which requires no heating or cooling, will be used to grow thornless raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and greens for the Bengal Cafe. Allison Miller, a special education teacher, will partner on a farm-to-table program. Tractor Supply in Woodbridge is providing raised beds. The school hopes to have the structure up by early spring.
