AMES, Iowa — AgCareers is empowering educators to inspire the next generation of agricultural talent with its updated U.S. Classroom Implementation Kit.  Designed for teachers, educators, advisors, and industry leaders, this resource bridges classroom learning with career exploration, helping students discover opportunities and prepare for their futures in agriculture and food.

Developed by education experts from the National FFA Organization, the kit complements the newest edition of the AgCareers U.S. Food & Agriculture Career Guide. It integrates career preparation into classrooms through ready-to-use lesson plans, hands-on activities, interactive worksheets, and curated resources, with education standards and optional extended learning opportunities to support instruction.

“We want to ensure that educators across the U.S. know about this unique resource to educate and explore the unlimited career pathways in the agriculture and food industry,” said Bonnie Johnson. “We need to share the multitude of unique career options in the industry with youth before they finalize their career path in high school; when young people are looking for a meaningful career that can truly make a difference, they can find it in the agricultural and food industry,” added Johnson.

Through guided lessons, students delve into career pathways while learning to utilize the Food & Agriculture Career Guide for future planning. Activities focus on three student learning objectives:

  • Identify and utilize tools and resources to prepare for a future career.
  • Comprehend the significance of preparing for internships, mentorships, and other career development opportunities.
  • Explore the diverse career options available across agriculture and food.

Lessons are tailored for high school students and can be adapted for other educational levels, offering educators flexibility to incorporate career exploration into their classrooms and advising programs.
