Yesterday marked the conclusion of the Loudermilk-Young Debate Series hosted by the Atlanta Press Club, where Senate candidates presented their platforms. The debate between incumbent Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper (Republican) and Democratic challenger Katherine Juhan-Arnold centered on key issues like data center development and the Cyclospora outbreak.
Both candidates agreed on the need to slow data center growth due to water usage, energy costs, and agricultural land loss. They also discussed their responses to the Cyclospora outbreak, emphasizing the importance of consumer warnings and emergency preparedness within the agricultural sector. Following the debate, Juhan-Arnold addressed questions from the press, while Harper declined a post-debate press conference.
