Drones Help Michigan 4-H Youth Discover Agriculture and Aviation Careers - Brownfield Ag News
A New Pathway for Young Explorers
By Nicole Heslip
Michigan 4-H’s Sue Beerens in Missaukee County shares a vision: "I think 4-H has been a huge impact in our area on teaching kids what kind of careers they can go into, that the sky's the limit."
"What are your passions? What do you want to do?" she asks, emphasizing how leaders guide members to discover their interests. Beerens recently spearheaded the creation of one of the state's first aviation-focused 4-H clubs, fostering a connection between aviation, agriculture, and technology.
In partnership with Wexford County 4-H and the local county airport, they've also launched the Future Flyers Aviation Camp to inspire youth about these sectors' intertwining paths. Beerens attributes the program's success to dedicated volunteers sharing their time and expertise.
