A federal judge has temporarily blocked the U.S. Department of Agriculture from moving forward with a major reorganization plan that would close offices and relocate employees at eight of its agencies.
The ruling halts plans that include moving the U.S. Forest Service headquarters from D.C. to Utah, relocating federal agricultural research jobs in Beltsville, Maryland, and shutting down regional offices.
U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria said the USDA is likely violating spending restrictions put in place by Congress.
