The FHSU Department of Agriculture hosted a fun-filled trunk-or-treat event on Wednesday, inviting community members and children to enjoy games, coloring, and other activities. Attendees had the opportunity to explore and learn about various FHSU agriculture clubs, societies, and organizations.
Cows greeted attendees outside, setting the stage for a unique agricultural experience.
Children's Activities:
- Decorating Cow Ear Tags: Kids got creative decorating cow ear tags.
- Height Measurement: A height measurer allowed children to compare their growth.
- Zombie Eye Toss: They aimed plastic eyeballs into cups for a spooky challenge.
- Pumpkin Ring Toss: A test of hand-eye coordination with rings and pumpkins.
- Candy Corn Toss: A sweet treat followed by a beanbag toss into cups.
- Coloring Pages: Delta Tau Alpha, a national agriculture honor society, provided coloring pages with a Halloween twist.
Quotes:
- Iryna McDonald, associate professor of agronomy at FHSU and advisor to Delta Tau Alpha, emphasized the event's community focus: "We want people who live in Hays to actually know we’re here... we want to be a part of the community."
- Natalia Onelio, a Delta Tau Alpha member, saw the event as a win-win: "This is a really good opportunity for the ag department and the community of Hays to put together an event and advertise the ag department... just to have some good time with kids and give kids the opportunity to have fun."
