Israeli attacks devastate agriculture in Quneitra

SANA (October 30, 2026) reported on the devastating impact of Israeli attacks on agriculture in Quneitra countryside. According to Mohammed Al-Ahmad, the mukhtar of Ruwayhina village, Israeli occupation forces have seized approximately 5,000 to 6,000 dunums of village land and pastures bordering the occupied Syrian Golan.
Farmers and herders in Ruwayhina are facing significant challenges due to continuous Israeli attacks and restrictions. Direct assaults on livestock and grazing areas have made agricultural and livestock activities increasingly perilous.
Al-Ahmad described the situation, stating:
Daily attacks and gunfire from Israeli occupation forces have been compounded by the repeated targeting of their herds, leaving barns and pastures increasingly quiet.
The Israeli forces have established military positions and earth berms within the seized areas, hindering farmers' and herders' access to their fields and grazing lands. Anyone attempting to approach these areas does so at the risk of direct fire, while livestock are subjected to immediate gunfire upon leaving their enclosures.
Al-Ahmad further elaborated on the losses incurred:
I personally lost around 50 sheep killed by shelling and direct fire. A cow also died after my home’s livestock enclosure was shelled, while my neighbors lost several sheep in a similar attack.
He estimated that dozens of sheep and cattle have been killed in Ruwayhina alone. The attacks are sudden and recurring, and the inability to reach pastures, coupled with rising feed costs, is causing severe hardships for the villagers.
