Kazakhstan Steps Up Efforts to Expand Agricultural Production and Processing

Kazinform reports that Kazakhstan is intensifying its efforts to boost agricultural production and processing.

Major Grain Processing Projects

Kazakhstan aims to implement six major deep grain processing projects by 2029, with a combined annual capacity of 5.8 million tons of raw materials, as stated by Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov at a recent government meeting.

Current Capacity and New Facilities

Currently, Kazakhstan operates three deep grain processing facilities with a total annual capacity of 510,000 tons of raw materials. Two new plants have been commissioned this year: the Kazkrakhmal plant in the Turkistan region and a project developed by Fufeng Group in the Zhambyl region.

Comprehensive Approach

Along with building new facilities, the government is focusing on:

  • Ensuring a stable supply of raw materials
  • Developing necessary infrastructure
  • Assisting enterprises in reaching designed production capacities

Dairy Farming and Meat Production

Kazakhstan is also expanding its dairy farming sector, following a model developed in the North Kazakhstan region. The goal is to have newly commissioned farms reach 70% of their designed capacity by year-end and full capacity by next year. A pool of 21 dairy farms with a combined capacity of 228,000 tons has been formed for next year.

Additionally, the country is constructing six integrated meat clusters to increase meat production. The Turkistan region will host Kazakhstan's first large-scale specialized livestock exchange.

Financial Support for Farmers

Earlier, Kazinform reported that Kazakhstan proposed billions in new funding to support farmers.
