Kyle Kirkland, a Central Valley businessman running for California’s 21st Congressional District, is making water management, agricultural competitiveness, and the rising cost of living central pillars of his campaign. In an interview with The Ag Meter, Kirkland addressed:

  • The challenges facing California farmers.
  • The state’s regulatory environment.
  • Government spending.
  • His plans to bring a business-oriented approach to Congress.

Kirkland argued that the Central Valley, a vital agricultural region, deserves stronger representation in Sacramento and Washington. He believes practical solutions delivering measurable results are needed.

California Agriculture Needs Stronger Representation

Kirkland believes the Central Valley’s agricultural significance is not adequately reflected in its political representation. He emphasized the importance of agricultural policy for both the state’s economy and national security. His district includes parts of southern Fresno County (Kingsburg, Selma, Reedley, Parlier) and northern Visalia.

Water Management as a Top Priority

Water was a key focus of the interview. Kirkland argued that California’s water challenge involves not only availability but also management, storage, and distribution.

"I think we don’t have a water problem. We have a water management problem." - Kyle Kirkland

He emphasized the need for consistent water policy and greater investment in groundwater, storage, and distribution infrastructure. According to Kirkland, these investments are crucial for farmers’ planning, expense management, and maintaining viable operations.

Addressing the Rising Cost of Living

Kirkland identified the cost of living as a leading concern he hears from constituents. He aims to address this issue through fiscal responsibility and effective policy that supports both farmers and families.
