Meals on Wheels Celebrates Partnership with Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture

On Wednesday, leaders with Meals on Wheels of Columbia celebrated a new partnership with the Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture. Leaders stated that this collaboration facilitated the delivery of quality meals to households in need.

In August, the Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture started preparing the food distributed by Meals on Wheels.

“The new partnership has really helped us. They have been providing some really nutrient dense food with some of the food from local farmers,” said Terri Walden, executive director of Meals on Wheels.

On Wednesday, they also marked the 54th birthday of Meals on Wheels. The non-profit organisation distributes approximately 4,000 meals monthly to Columbia seniors and adults with disabilities.

“It's been an honor to just be part of the chain of people who have helped bring those meals out to people in the community,” Walden added.

In 2025, the group delivered over 50,000 meals to more than 500 residents.
