Oregon Women for Agriculture honor two at annual meeting – Capital Press

ALBANY, Ore. — Oregon Women for Agriculture, a volunteer group Of women devoted to promoting agriculture statewide, has honored two of its members for excellent service and management.

Dona Coon, of Shedd, Ore., acquired the Leaven Award for her many years Of labor with the group. Anne Marie Moss, communications director of the Oregon Farm Bureau, was given the OWA Service to Ag Award for her integral position advocating on behalf of farmers and ranchers.

Each awards have been launched Feb. 27 By way of the OWA annual meeting, which was held almost. 

Coon serves as Vice chairman of the OWA Linn-Benton county chapter, and as a county director on the group’s state board. She joined OWA in 1983, and for 38 years has been deeply involved in working state conventions, the annual public sale and Oregon State Truthful gross sales space.

Collectively with OWA, Coon is a key assister of Oregon Ag Inside the Classroom. She stored This method alive Inside the Nineteen Nineties after the Agri-Enterprise Council of Oregon pulled its assist,  shifting supplies for Oregon AITC from the council’s workplaces in Portland to her house.

“Dona’s many expertise and devotion for all elements of agriculture make her A very worthy recipient of the Leaven award,” the group introduced. 

The OWA Service to Ag Award goes Yearly to somebody who extensively shares the message of agriculture with others — primarily Moss’ job description for the state Farm Bureau. 

As communications director, Moss is a spokesperson for agriculture Daily. She is a messenger for the Farm Bureau and the farmers it represents, whether or not conducting outreach to college students, consumers or state lawmakers in Salem. 

Moss May even be a graduate of the Useful resource Education and Agricultural Leadership program, Usually acknowledged as Exact Oregon, a management teaching course for the agriculture and pure assets sectors. 

Helle Ruddenklau, OWA previous president, said Moss is “gifted in her work, and Collectively with her constructive and upbeat character is a joyful but forceful advocate on behalf of Oregon agriculture.”
