Tennessee Department of Agriculture Partnership Will Support Farmers, Expand Access to Local, Nutritious Foods

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Division of Agriculture (TDA) declares its participation in a program Which will enhance purchases of native meals from Tennessee’s underserved farmers and producers and get them to People who want them most.

TDA will take part Inside the Local Meals Buy Assist Cooperative Settlement Program (LFPA), established by the U.S. Division of Agriculture’s Agricultural Advertising Service and accredited by the American Rescue Plan.

The initiative goals To take care of and enhance agricultural current chain resiliency to help native, regional, and socially disadvantaged farmers and producers by way of The acquisition of regionally grown current meals, food merchandise, and drinks.
 
“TDA will use LFPA funds to increase financial alternatives for Tennessee’s farmers and producers who traditionally have had fewer alternatives,” Tennessee Agriculture Commissioner Charlie Hatcher, D.V.M. shelp. “Our participation will help in offering nutritious meals and drinks That are distinctive to our areas to Tennesseans who don’t have entry to it.”
 
With LFPA funding, TDA will companion with Tennessee’s Feeding America Meals Banks Inside their efforts To accumulate extreme-extreme quality meals and drinks produced Contained in the state or within 400 miles of supply vacation spot.
