USDA Awards $26.5 Million Grant to West Virginia State University
West Virginia State University is receiving a significant boost for expanding agriculture education and research. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded the university a substantial $26.5 million grant for the construction of a new agriculture complex.
This complex will serve as a modern hub for the university's Purdy School of Agriculture and the West Virginia Department of Agriculture, providing much-needed laboratory space. According to West Virginia State University President Ericke Cage, this grant is the largest competitive grant in the university's history, placing them among the top institutions of higher education in the country.
The new facility is expected to break ground early next year, with students set to move in and begin using the space during the 2029 school year.
