USDA and FTC Seek Public Comment on Agriculture Equipment Markets Competition

(October 7, 2026, 15:06 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) have issued a joint request for public comment regarding issues affecting agricultural equipment manufacturing and distribution markets, including potential anti-competitive conduct. This is part of the FTC's ongoing work to preserve competition in the agriculture sector.

The agencies encourage farmers, independent repair providers, and current or former employees of agricultural equipment manufacturers and dealers to share their concerns. They are asked to comment on relevant business models, agreements, contractual terms, restrictions, penalties, retaliation, and broader competitive implications of how policies may impact pricing, market entry, innovation, farmer welfare, or rural economic resistance.

Comments will be received until the end of December 7.
