USDA Rural Development Announces $804,854 in Value-Added Producer Grants
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development West Virginia State Director John Reisenweber announced five in-state agricultural producers have received a combined $804,854 in grants. The awards will create jobs, expand market opportunities, and strengthen the availability of locally produced value-added agricultural products in West Virginia.
"Investing in local agriculture strengthens both our economy and our food supply," said Reisenweber. "I’ve seen firsthand how these farmers are creating opportunities for their families and communities, and I’m excited to see these grants will help producers grow their operations, support local food systems, and increase access to West Virginia-grown products."
The following West Virginia entities received USDA Rural Business Development Grants:
- Nicole’s Natural Meats, Hardy County: $124,995
- Mountain Steer Meat Company, Greenbrier County: $200,000
- H & W Pastures, Berkeley County: $80,338
- Lost River Meat Company, Hardy County: $200,000
- Triple E Farms, Hampshire County: $199,521
These investments come through the USDA Rural Development’s Value-Added Producer Grant Program, which assists agricultural producers in entering value-added activities, creating and expanding marketing opportunities, and increasing producer income through enhanced product value and market research.
